HabAid raises funds to support a number of charities in Israel and the UK, whose primary purpose is helping disabled and disadvantaged children.
Dear Friends and Supporters,
2017 is already proving inspirational as we work towards three major fundraising events that we have planned and we know with your help, it is going to be our most successful ever!
Following our 2016 Annual Gala Boxing night held on 21st November, we were once again able to support many of the projects we planned for our charities. We raised over £150,000 in 2016 and with your help, will be on schedule to exceed our targets for this year.
We ran another incredibly successful day at Bruntingthorpe on 1st August for the Children of Zichron Menachem. Over 240 terminally or seriously ill children, together with medical staff and carers enjoyed an incredible day where we had over 20 professional drivers taking the children round the course at speeds of 125+ mph in high performance cars. They also had a great time driving professional go-karts, had face painting, manicures, candy floss and popcorn stands and the highlight of the day was a fly-past by 2 fighter jets organised by the RAF.
We raised just shy of £12,000 net with our first ever HabAid Supper Quiz on the 4th September. The night was an incredible success and great fun. Our thanks go to everyone that attended for their kind generosity and for all those that worked so hard to make the evening so enjoyable.
One of our committee members was sent for the second time, as an envoy to the Ukraine to buy and deliver clothing, shoes and books for an orphanage, as we did in 2014. Plus we are planning lots more events such as music days, animal interaction days and so much more for the children we help.
Our focus this year is the UK Premier of “Sylvia Tracing Blood” on Sunday 7th May at the JW3 Centre, with a Q&A after the showing with award winning director Saxon Logan. We are also planning another HabAid Event Day and of course our Annual Gala Boxing Night which has been confirmed for 13th November at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel. Full details are available here and tickets for this regular calendar event are now available. This event always provides us with the bulk of the donations we need to fulfil the pledges we make to the projects we support, so it is all hands on deck to ensure the evening and our other events raise as much as possible.
Whilst I remain humbled by the support HabAid has attracted from its donors and supporters, our work is never done. We continue in our relentless pursuit to make a difference to the lives of children still suffering worldwide. Your generosity does change the lives of hundreds of young children who will have opportunities that previously they could only dream of.
It never ceases to amaze me how British people turn their attention to the plight of the less fortunate children when called upon to help. I am proud to announce that we are working hard to ensure 2017 will be an outstanding year in the history of HabAid.
Please help us to achieve even more for our HabAid charities. There are a number of ways you can help today:
- Come to our film showing on 7th May
- Come to our boxing event on 13th November
- Take a page in our Gala Boxing Event Brochure
- Donate online – any amount will help – we are all voluntary workers on the committee, so 100% of your donation goes to our causes
Thank you all for your magnificent contributions.
Lane Bednash – Chairman of HabAid
